Therapy

Hello

My name is Heather Dewell

As a counselor with two young adult children, one of whom is non-binary and has autism, and the other who has dyslexia and ASD tendencies,  I bring a wealth of personal and professional experience to my practice. I have witnessed firsthand the unique challenges and strengths that come with neurodiversity, and I am committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all of my clients.

Further having experience of a happy marriage, I believe that healthy relationships are the foundation of a fulfilling life. I understand the importance of fostering strong and positive connections, both within ourselves and with others, and I am determined in helping my clients achieve this.

In my counseling practice, I use an integrative approach that is tailored to the individual needs and goals of each person, with you in the driving seat. I have a wide range of experience working with young adults on the autism spectrum, as well as those with dyslexia and other learning differences. I believe that everyone has the potential to thrive and reach their full potential, and I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve this.

As a parent, I understand the importance of supporting young adults as they navigate the transition to independence and adulthood. I am dedicated to providing my clients with the tools and skills they need to build and maintain healthy relationships, both in their personal and professional lives. I am further committed  to working collaboratively to provide resources and support that promote holistic wellbeing and success. I believe that by fostering a culture of empathy and understanding, we can create a more inclusive and accepting society for all.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and engaging in creative pursuits. I believe that self-care is an essential component of maintaining mental and emotional health, and I encourage my clients to prioritize this as well. I believe that by focusing on  our own happiness and wellbeing, we can create a positive ripple effect in our relationships and in the world around us.
